I get around the duplicate content issue by rewriting or summarizing. It's certainly a challenge to come up with a thoughtful comment on something but to do so in a few different ways. My background as a reporter has been helpful in that respect.

In regard to myth #3 about splitting content over multiple domains, there are different views on this. It really depends on what your online marketing strategy is. Ideally you would get all the incoming links coming to your company site. I think it's possible to be viewed as credible in your industry while curating content on your business's site.

That's not to say there aren't legitimate reasons for hosting a curated content site on a separate domain. If you plan to include any competitor content, this could be one reason, but I think you could still do so on your business site, written properly.
